As Told To: Jewel Wicker
A newsletter sharing articles and musings on entertainment, media and culture.
I know. I know. Everyone has a newsletter these days. But, I’m here to add one more to the bunch and I promise I wouldn’t do so if I didn’t think I had something worthwhile to contribute.
Welcome to As Told To. I’m Jewel Wicker, a freelance entertainment and culture reporter whose work has appeared in Billboard, Atlanta Magazine, Pitchfork, The Hollywood Reporter, Teen Vogue, etc. I write primarily about music, film and TV, and my hometown Atlanta, oftentimes focusing on black culture. I’m passionate about telling stories from the present and past that have often been traditionally overlooked or mischaracterized. As a young black reporter, I also feel compelled to mentor students and use my voice to advocate for more equitable conditions in media.
Every other Wednesday, I’ll publish a newsletter that will feature my most recent work (as well as a behind-the-scenes look at my reporting process), and timely commentary on what’s going on in entertainment and media. And, because I’m an entertainment reporter, I’ll also include a list of music, books, recipes and other content I’m personally engaging with.
